be excused for being absent or late unless a written excuse is furnished by the parent showing one of the following reasons:
1. Personal sickness
2. Sickness in the family requiring the services of the child for A DAY OR TWO until other help can be secured.
3. Impassable roads.
4. Inclement weather.

The Attorney General has ruled that more than two unexcused absences within four consecutive weeks constitutes a violation of the Law.

The Chief of the Attendance Division of the Education Department says that, when a child shall be absent for four or five days from sickness, a doctor's certificate shall be furnished and such certificate shall clearly state the nature and extend of the ailment. He further states that no doctor's certificate shall be good for longer than three or four weeks.
