BASEBALL
The 1955 baseball team turned in a very impressive season. The highlights of the season were: The winning of the League Championship; a ho-hit game pitched by Joel Kaufman, and a home run by Bill McIntosh.
The squad as a whole did very well, turning in a team average of .296. Bill McIntosh led the team with a .448 average, followed closely by Gene Olsen with .414 The pitching was done on the whole by Kaufman who pitched six winning games and lost one. Harry Rockefeller pitched the other game. In the catching department we had a fine backstop in the person of Gene Olsen. A fine infield and outfield made up the rest of the team.
The outlook for this year is good. We will have six out of the first nine returning. The pitching looks favorable, but we will miss the services of our catcher. The infield and the outfield will still be in good shape.
